Phase gradient protection of stored spatially multimode perfect optical vortex beams in a diffused rubidium vapor

We experimentally investigate the optical storage of perfect vortex (POV) and spatially multimode (MPOV) beams via electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) in a hot vapor cell. In particular, we study role that phase gradients singularities play reducing blurring retrieved images due to atomic diffusion. Three kinds manifestations are enumerated demonstrate such effect. Firstly, suppression ring width broadening is more prominent for POVs with larger orbital angular momentum (OAM). Secondly, double-ring MPOV beams' profiles present regular dark singularity distributions related their charge difference. Thirdly, fidelities triple-ring MPOVs substantially improved by designing line between multi-ring same OAM number but $\pi$ offset phases adjacent rings. Our experimental demonstration opens new opportunities increasing data capacity quantum memories spatial multiplexing, as well generation manipulation complex arrays.

We demonstrate an all optical waveguide imprinted by a low power Laguerre Gaussian control laser beam using a coherent Raman process in warm atomic rubidium vapor. We show that the signal beam propagates with a small spot size over several diffraction lengths.
